Overview: The current economic cycle is a tough one and most companies are feeling the pressure. Many a manager is stuck with the problem of how to keep employees motivated in such an uncertain time, especially since they can't promise great salary increases. The good news is that there are various other ways of motivating employees without having to blow the (already tight) budget. The key is to finding the right 'Trigger' to motivate individual employees. The answer lies with the employee's needs. Why does he come to work? What does he hope to attain? It is important for the manager to try and figure out the motivational trigger for every employee in his department.
