Overview: From the executive summary: ‘Procrastination is a method for shutting down awareness of anxious or aggressive thoughts or of scared or shameful feelings. It often quickly morphs into a ritual of escape and a vicious cycle of self-numbing, self-doubting, or, even, self-loathing. The reasons for procrastination are as plentiful as the broken promises they leave behind. Perfectionism, fear of failure, and lack of discipline are just a few of the culprits. More simple reasons include too little sleep and too many commitments, and can be quickly remedied.’ The paper examines ways to deal with procrastination.
