Overview: Not every organization, of course, will want or need to consolidate benefits plans before a shared services implementation. But for some willing to consider it, the benefits consolidation process can be a powerful force to bring about the "Common good" mindset needed for an effective shared services implementation. An organization that is planning to move to a single benefit program, and that is also preparing for a shared services implementation at around the same time or a little later, can take advantage of the cultural changes needed for the benefits consolidation effort to smooth the way for shared services adoption.
