Overview: Quality of a product or service is measured by its reliability among the target audience and its conformance to performance standards. Total Quality Management (TQM) is an approach towards maintaining quality of processes and systems in an organization. TQM calls for checking quality at every stage of product development rather than checking for the same at the very last stage. In the contemporary business era, organizations are, increasingly stressing on the quality aspects or their products, services, and systems. Various awards have been instituted for achieving excellence in quality. The paper elucidates issues involved in quality and discusses quality awards and certification.
