Overview: Only a third of all jobs are advertised. So how do you get know about the others? Through networking. To those who loathe it, networking sounds like a bunch of souped-up salesmen in nylon suits and shiny shoes swapping business cards and gold-capped grins, boring each other and laughing uproariously over each other's bad jokes in embarrassing attempts to cultivate authentic connections. But networking aficionados are offended by such portrayals. "Some people see it in a negative way, as a sleazy, manipulative process, because they perceive it's about getting something from another person".
