Overview: Career planning is something that we start thinking about from the age of 5 or 6. You might have dreamt of becoming a pilot, an astronaut, a teacher, a soccer player, just to name few careers that we all thought about. As you grow older, your career planning becomes more realistic. You start thinking about the factors that are important to you in order to build a clearer picture about your career. You would think about your priorities in terms of skills, interests and what motivates you (i.e. gets you out of bed every morning). The first step in your career planning should focus on one thing: your skills.
