Overview: Marital status and age should never be disclosed to a job interviewer, right? Wrong! Even though it is illegal to be asked about those details, jobseekers, particularly executives and managers, might be better off revealing some of their personal information. Most people are shocked to hear this advice. They think personal data is none of the interviewer's business, which is legally correct. However, when a job hunter reveals some of those details, it often transforms a routine question and answer session into a friendlier discussion and, most importantly, builds a connection between applicant and interviewer.
