Overview: Goal setting involves specifying certain pre-defined goals and objectives for the employees to accomplish within a specific time period. Setting of goals for individual employees entail several factors and considerations. Monetary incentives affect goal-setting outcomes. It is imperative to see that the set goals promote participation and skill development. The paper examines two theoretical explanations for goal setting effects. Computational models based on each explanation are also discussed.
