Overview: Decision making is the process of choosing a suitable solution to a problem from amongst a number of different solutions. This choice is based on a detailed analysis of the pros and cons of each of the aforesaid solutions. Decision Support Systems (DSS) are interactive IT based systems that utilize data and models to solve unstructured problems and, thereby, speed up the decision making process. The paper examines decision making in the organizational context and discusses the role of DSS in the decision making process.
