Overview: The supply chain forms the backbone of an organization. It consists of the dealer and distributor network and extends right up to the source of the raw materials. The product passes through different stages of its development and moves from the source of raw materials to the market along the supply chain. Simultaneously, information about the product travels in the reverse direction along the supply chain. Supply chain management involves efficiently handling the relationships between different supply chain entities towards error free product development cycle. The paper discusses basic principles of supply chain management and examines the dynamics of supply chain.
