Overview: This is a report, on the Inland Marine causes of loss released by AAIS. Inland marine insurance continues to be a profitable line of business for companies that report inland marine data to AAIS. Despite persistent problems with theft and other types of losses, inland marine stands a good chance of becoming more profitable in the coming year. In recent years, companies reporting inland marine data to AAIS have reported better loss ratios than the industry as a whole in a line that consistently shows lower loss ratios than other lines. Some of the classes, which have been covered in this report, are construction classes, motor truck cargo, boats, and farm classes.
