Overview: This case study illustrates about DaimlerChrysler, Ford and GM, which released a joint letter announcing that the third edition of QS-9000 will expire on Dec. 14, 2006, after which ISO/TS 16949:2002 will replace QS-9000. These three automakers stood before their leading suppliers and stated the direction that their joint quality system capability assessment initiatives would take: ISO/TS 16949:2002 has been released, and QS-9000 is no longer in the long-term picture.
