Overview: This article discusses about transition to ISO 9001:2000. With the deadline for companies to transition looming and a grab bag of externalities ebbing away at the transition process, many in the quality world have grown nervous. Barely 18 percent of ISO 9001/2/3:1994-registered companies have successfully completed the transition to the new standard, painting an increasingly bleak outlook for a smooth and efficient industry wide transition. Information targeting is another area in which ISO may have helped with a different strategy. Quality managers are traditionally targeted for information about quality subjects, including the upgrade from ISO 9001/2/3:1994 to ISO 9001:2001.
