Overview: In the future, food stores will be larger; consumers will wield more power; and supply chain cooperation will become increasingly important. New leading-edge global research examines the food industry of tomorrow. Traditionally, change in the food industry has been slow and gradual. Revolutions have occurred rarely, if at all. However, in recent years, the food business has experienced a number of significant changes that may ultimately alter the very nature of the industry. The article discusses some of the most significant findings from this study. These are how can cooperation among the various links in the chain be realized, retailers must be willing to reconsider what really constitutes their core business, the provision and standardization of information and creating new techniques to optimize food.
