Overview: Article states that the slew of new options available for containers nowadays helps warehouses to run much more efficiently. In today's competitive business environment, companies seek out efficiencies and cost savings from every part of their operation. Warehouses have not escaped the scrutiny, as managers strive to maximize the productivity of every component, containers included. The bottom line is clear: Standard cardboard boxes and basic plastic totes just do not cut it anymore. In their effort to improve warehouse operations, some managers are asking for containers on casters to reduce the need for forklifts and to allow workers to furnish their own parts, rather than rely on a forklift operator. Some are using collapsible plastic containers that can be stored, shipped, and reused, while others want non-conductive containers for storing and shipping sensitive electronic equipment. Most returnable containers are plastic, which costs four to six times the price of cardboard, but lasts 20 to 30 times longer, because of this, many companies will pay the cost of corrugated plastic containers in exchange for more total usage from the product.
