Overview: This paper explores four fundamental issues that deserve additional attention from scholars interested in international entrepreneurship. First, a reformulated definition of international entrepreneurship is presented that is consistent with the recent definition of entrepreneurship proposed by Shane and Venkataraman (2000). Second, several theoretical models and frameworks useful to the further development of international entrepreneurship are explored. Third, the important role of network theory is highlighted. Fourth, learning theory and knowledge management are shown to be core issues for international entrepreneurship scholars. The paper concludes with a call for international business and entrepreneurship scholars to produce more joint research.
