Overview: On November 26, 2002, President Bush signed into law The Terrorism Risk Insurance Act of 2002, or H.R. 3210. The primary objective of the Terrorism Risk Insurance Act of 2002 is to mainly ensure the availability of commercial property and casualty insurance coverage for losses resulting from acts of terrorism. The Terrorism Risk Insurance Act of 2002 will also allow for a transitional period for the private markets to regain stability, resume pricing and build capability to absorb damages in the future.
