Overview: Article states the degree of impact people and organizational culture can have on the implementation of technology. In today’s fast-paced society, organizations are rushing to keep pace with rapid changes in technology. Many companies spend tremendous amounts of time and money analyzing and refining technology strategies, but don’t give sufficient thought and attention to how they can best execute that strategy. Leaders may not realize that an organization’s culture and people can significantly impact the success or failure of technology implementation. When leaders fail to adequately communicate technology strategies and anticipated benefits or underestimate the impact to the organization, projects may fail to achieve intended business results. New technologies and rising customer expectations dictate that organizations keep pace with evolving opportunities in e-business. A great strategy is only as good its execution and implementation. By incorporating people and culture issues into project plans, organizations will be positioned to achieve business objectives.
