Overview: The troubles of 2001 have fundamentally changed how companies select a location for their next facility. A volatile combination of recent events-the cooling of a red-hot economy, the aftermath of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, had a sobering effect on the site selection process. In today's business climate, site selection specialists are more apt to emphasize exit strategies in site selection.
