Overview: It is a great paradox that there are innumerable obstacles to innovation in the current corporate environment. It is also absolutely essential to the survival, growth and prosperity of any company to have some means to manage innovation. Competition, mistrust, and scarcity of time, money and other resources make it very difficult to innovate. These same reasons make it innovation imperative. There are a number of obstacles to realizing and profiting from innovation to the fullest. In order to capitalize on the innovative capacities within the company, one have to provide some basic elements that foster it in the organization. The way one provide these elements can be formal or informal, and adapted to the size and nature of the company, but they must be present in some form to truly encourage and leverage innovation. By creating common goals, an atmosphere of collaboration, and a compensation system that recognizes and rewards innovation, your company can mitigate the risks and maximize the rewards of innovations from within the ranks.
