Overview: Dotcom companies had access to extraordinarily large amounts of funding as the Internet attracted billions of dollars in investment, dragged countless corporations and consumers online and generated hype not seen since the biotech days. Successful dotcom companies of the future must do more than just emulate their brick-and-mortar counterparts. They will have to use technology and the Internet to solve a compelling need and demonstrate that they can provide a value added service, which cannot be cost effectively, replicated in the traditional world. The Internet opened our eyes not only to the inefficiencies and possible threats we as an Industry are exposed to - be that the vulnerability of commissions, the changing home buyer and the entrance of large outside players - it has also redefined the rules of the home buying process and the way consumers will be served in the years to come.
