Overview: NYSE and NASDAQ Issue New Proposed Corporate Governance Requirements. While the NYSE and NASDAQ proposals currently differ in some respects, experience indicated that they are likely to converge, and ultimately provide for similar or identical requirements. There has been growing discussion and calls for reform of corporate governance during the past year. The NASDAQ Stock Market and the New York Stock Exchange recently announced proposed rule changes that will, if adopted, set new minimum standards for corporate governance. This also discusses various NASDAQ Amendments. Thus, the NYSE and NASDAQ proposals are lengthy and complex, and they have been developed in an unfolding and fast-changing series of proposed changes to regulations and corporate governance procedures being considered by the SEC and by Congress.
