This piece of legislation marked the beginning of imposed regulations on any company utilizing telemarketing as a direct marketing initiative. The Telemarketing and Consumer Fraud and Prevention Act of 1995 (TCFPA) defined abusive practices and gave the FTC the authority to enforce the TCPA. Telemarketing Sales Rule (TSR), which turned the heat up significantly in terms of enforcement and punishment.
