Overview: Around 200,000 people change uniforms each year, representing about 1 out of 6 members of the military returning to civilian life. They are very young in relation to their extensive experience and training. In fact, 82 percent of departing military are between the ages of 18 and 34. Most exit the service after completing their first enlistment or obligation (3-5 years). Those who "retire" from the military generally do so at the ripe "old" age of 37-38, still in their prime, anxious to learn new skills and apply what they have already experienced. In addition, the military is a diverse group. The military does a lot of training in just about everything. The current military is the most highly educated in history, so it is easier for such people to cope up with the challenges faced by the companies.
