Overview: The article says that learning from previous project problems would seem to be a no-brainer for organizations that do projects for a living. Yet, lessons are rarely learned and the same failures are repeated over and over. What we need is a living lessons learned process that gives the organization and its project managers an opportunity for continuous improvement. Good success is experienced with regular peer reviews of projects nearing launch. The second tier in the living lessons learned process is regular (usually weekly) review of project scope changes. The last tier of the living lessons learned is the periodic assessment of each project manager’s leadership style and the organizational culture of their project teams.
