Overview: In the past, American funds have been put off coming across the Atlantic because of the fragmented nature of the opportunities in Europe combined with the number of good investment opportunities which were present within their own market. However, over the last few years, the mind shift within US funds means that they are less willing to risk their own investors' money on non "24 carat" opportunities leading to a large number of funds chasing a diminishing pool of quality investment opportunities. Whilst Europe can prove to be a difficult market to set up funds and make investments in without specialist local knowledge, the number of opportunities which exist within the market and the lower valuations should mean that many of the US funds who may not have previously considered investing in the market are re-examining the reasons for holding back. Ultimately the opportunities in Europe may just be too good to miss out on.
