Overview: This paper is based on strategic planning which lowers the total product cost, higher gross profit margins and reduced inventory. Developing and maintaining relationships with suppliers of critical components is crucial to Palm's success. Often with high technology products a new piece of equipment is introduced with a high price tag. The price is reduced the longer the product is in the market due to competitive reasons and because the manufacturer achieves economies of scale as manufacturing volumes increase
