Overview: Irrespective of what views people may have of dear old ISO 9000 the 2000 revision brought with it a fundamental change in approach. It is not surprising that changes to ISO 9000, however fundamental, will not bring about a new age simply because its contents have been tinkered with. It is what ISO 9000 has become that has to change. The current Skoda TV advert makes the point: The new Skoda is totally different - a car to match the Passatt - but the name remains and so does public prejudice, despite the challenge to take a second look. Perhaps Skoda wishes it had the same opportunity as ISO. All ISO 9000 owners have no choice but to change their model within the next two years, so they are forced to take a serious look at what vehicle they should use to assist their achievement of business objectives.
