Overview: "The article is about the PRINCE2 Project Management Methodology that uses a combination of three aspects: Eight well defined Processes that provide the framework to manage the project, Eight detailed Components that are used by and support the processes, Three Techniques used to support the Components and Processes. There is no substitute for getting the project off to a solid controlled start up. This factor alone is probably rated as one of the highest in improving the chances of a successful delivery. PRINCE2 recognizes this and provides a whole raft of best practices that have been woven into its methodology to facilitate a Controlled Start. The reason for doing this Starting Up process is that in some cases the initiation stage for a large project could run into a number of months; this needs careful planning and approval. This implies that for a small project you could omit the Starting Up process. I agree and actually combine some of the Starting Up processes with the Initiating a Project process. PRINCE2 provides advice on scalability of the processes within the manual. "
