Overview: "It may be unfashionable to consider unions as a company's ally in anything, much less the pursuit of a quality management system certification such as ISO 9001. However, more and more studies are showing that unionized companies are more profitable, and that union employees are better trained, less likely to job-hop, and more productive. The idea that a unionized shop cannot pursue change, such as the implementation of ISO 9001, is a silly and outdated idea. Like everything else, certain problems may arise that require thought and planning, but which --- in the end --- can be overcome to the mutual benefit of all parties. Interestingly, these ""problems"" may be the same ones that arise in a non-union shop. "
