Overview: This paper has three objectives. The first objective is to examine factors that influence whether firms will be involved in mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures, and strategic alliances. The second objective is to examine, for those cooperatives that are involved in mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures and strategic alliances, the relative importance of various driving forces that motivated them to get involved in these activities. The third objective is to examine the relative importance of factors in the success of these new business arrangements. It also describes the data used in this analysis and provides some descriptive statistics of the cooperatives that participated in the survey
