Overview: ISO 9000 revisions process, expected to culminate in the fourth quarter of 2000. But due to an unexpected turn at the ISO Technical Management Board (TMB), the ISO 14000 revisions process has been thrown into the mix, creating pressure on TC 207 to kick-start its process earlier than expected so that the greatest degree of compatibility between the two series can be achieved. The new directive will force all national delegations to come together to push the document through the many stages of the ISO process, with the compatibility issue receiving the highest priority. The aggressive move could make any other revisions to the standard-such as public environmental reporting and a greater emphasis on compliance-an unlikely addition to ISO 14001 until the next expected review in 2005.
