Overview: After two decades of cost cutting and process improvements, companies recognize that one of the last remaining areas where they can achieve substantial productivity gains is the performance of global supply chains. The freight forwarding industry is undergoing a series of transformations, marked by a wave of mergers, advances in technology and competitive pressure from third-party logistics providers. As third-party logistics providers diversify their activities in response to customer needs, the traditional distinctions between forwarding and logistics services are blurring.
