Overview: Conventional thinking dictates that a rigorous deployment led by top management is the only sure route to Six Sigma success. But the Continuous Process Improvement (CPI) program at Quadrant Engineering Plastic Products is beginning to generate convincing reasons for using Six Sigma tools and techniques even if a thorough implementation is not an option. CPI bears similarities to Six Sigma but is clearly not a conventional Six Sigma program. Every phase of a CPI project, from identifying and selecting an opportunity to writing the final report on results is systematized. Having detailed methodologies in place not only increases chances for success but also makes information on projects more easily accessible across the organization.
