Overview: This Regulation defines licensing procedures for banking institutions (hereafter "commercial bank") and branches of foreign banks. has been developed in accordance with the Law of Georgia "On Activities of Businesses", the Organic Law of the "National Bank of Georgia" and the "Law of Georgia on the Activities of Commercial Banks." The National Bank of Georgia shall issue a banking license only to those legal entities, who, having registered according to a set procedure, satisfy the following assessment criteria and activity requirements under this Regulation and current legislation: amount of declared and issued capital, operating area, competence of management and administrators, business plans and by laws. This article also explains about Licensing Application, Lincensing of Foreign Bank Branches, Merger (Acquisition) and Splitting of Commercial Banks etc.
