Overview: The ADA and many state laws protect the rights of employees and job applicants who are disabled. Well written, carefully followed policies will help you steer clear of ADA violations and claims The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) prohibits employers with 15 or more employees from discriminating against a qualified individual with a disability. The ADA requires covered employers to provide reasonable accommodation to qualified disabled individuals, unless the accommodation would impose an undue burden on the employer's business operation. Under the ADA, an undue hardship means that the accommodation would be very costly, extensive or disruptive to would fundamentally alter the nature of the employer's business.
