Overview: When dealing with marketers based in multiple locations, the real way of keeping on message is to get the managing directors of each division to buy into the group three-year plan. Once the strategy is agreed, I sit down with the MD and approve divisional marketing plans and budgets. Thereafter, I'm going to leave the local team well alone because the actual implementation is the emotive bit. I try to get all my marketers to work as a team, even though they may want to have their independence. I make sure that they share their individual divisional strategies and best practice.
