Overview: Fleet representatives, for telephone-based banking, along with technical staff members from the information technology (IT) group, set about to define, justify, acquire, and deploy a new telesales solution for retail banking. In summary, in 1996 Fleet Bank’s fast growing retail banking operations were badly in need of a more productive andcost-effective telephone-based selling capability and, in a matter of only several months, a Fleet team defined, acquired, and deployed a telesales call center solution that fulfills business objectives and provides a foundation for continuing growth and enhancement. That solution was the result of an extraordinary effort led by Fleet Bank’stelephone banking group and involving the close cooperation of Sun Microsystems, Inc., Scopus Technology,Oracle, and other suppliers including Aspect and Davox.
