Overview: With the advent of multidimensional database technology came the promise that financial managers would soon be able to deliver financial reporting applications that were as robust as the underlying database. According to the article any attempt to demonstrate the ability to use these applications for financial reporting generally ended up with crude listings of accounts for a single time period. It was hoped that financial managers would simply be dazzled by the multitude of colors or perform a mental extrapolation without asking too many tough questions.
