Overview: We cannot rely on legislation to achieve and protect equality issues. Collective bargaining is a much more effective mechanism for ensuring that these rights exist. Although there have been major achievements made in equality issues in the past, downsizing and reorganization are taking a toll, impacting on the lives of workers and women workers in particular. Therefore, it is essential that equality issues become central to collective bargaining objectives.
