Overview: GHI Services, Inc. is a subsidiary of a major financial services firm that does business throughout United States. GHI has over 200 employees in the US, 35 of who are Japanese. These Japanese are mostly managers, and small percentages are trainees who are in the US for a short period of time. The case study represents how an employee was terminated of his services within 3 months due to the company’s policy. The case study indicates the need for a company handbook and for managers who are familiar with its contents. More importantly, it is crucial that managers understand why certain elements are included in the employee handbook.
