Overview: One of your employees accuses another of sexually harassing conduct. You want to investigate, but the subject is touchy, and you fear creating a bigger problem. Should you back off because of possible charges of abuse from the accused harasser? This case study shows that this is not the case. Don't back off from doing what you have to do when one employee accuses another. Conduct a fair, reasonable investigation and carefully record your findings. You may get an employee's nose out of joint, but worse things could happen (and they usually will if you let the incident slide).
