Overview: A call comes in. The hiring manager's seen your resume and wants you to come in for an interview immediately! The job sounds perfect, with phrases like "Set your own hours, no experience required," and the recruiter promises easy work and guaranteed fat paychecks. The words "Be your own boss" may be said loudly and often. When you go to the interview, everyone is well-dressed and looks happy, but something doesn't seem right. Perhaps the manager makes contradictory statements, or the office is in a shambles, as if they just moved in. Or maybe the company name on the application doesn't match the name on the company website.
