Overview: For most people in management positions, hiring and firing employees is their least favorite task. Hiring employees is especially difficult because you are relying on your instinct. Getting to know someone in an hour or less and deciding if they would fit in with your existing personnel is a daunting chore. Personality, skills, attitude, and reliability are important traits in an employee but very difficult to gauge in a one on one interview. It is impossible to see how a candidate will interact with other personnel or with clients. It is also very difficult to determine how a candidate will respond to authority.
