Overview: In planning a speech, think first about the occasion and your audience. Will it be formal or informal? Who will be listening? Why is your subject of interest to them? Jot the answers down and keep them in mind as you proceed. To organize your speech, write down the main points you want to make, as they occur (unless you are giving a lecture or a technical exposition, three 0r four main points are enough). Summarize each one in clear sentence, and group any relevant information around each.
