Overview: The world is running out of oil, and federal government's policy to combat this is ineffective long term. Change is necessary, but what change is appropriate? Most renewable energy sources are currently more expensive than traditional means of energy production, such as coal and oil. These new technologies are still in early developmental stages and the price will go down over time through research and development. The federal government could speed up this process by funneling money from less productive projects and allocate the resources to renewable energy research.
