Overview: Ethical leadership might sound like a misnomer in a world where so many scandals have made it into the headlines (i.e. Enron) but the concept still holds some validity as a way of doing business. Before we can discuss the need for ethical leadership we need to understand what ethical leadership is. Ethical leadership is a leader who maintains a certain standard of principles when conducting business and dealing with the public. This leadership will take into consideration not only the profits of the shareholder but also the needs of the people in the organization and the public. A leader who sells his sole for the almighty dollar may find that people do not trust, respect or encourage any dealings with him or her.
