Overview: A lot of looking for a job is purely a matter of communication. You've got to tell people who you are, what you do, where you're going, and why you have what it takes to go there. Sounds basic enough, but here's the catch: you have about a mosquito's sneeze worth of time to convey all this information. Yeah, that sounds harsh. But that's the truth of the matter. So what can you do? The handiest way to communicate all this information is to create what in job search terms is called the "30 second speech," or an "Elevator speech," named as such because you should be able to deliver it in the time you're riding in an elevator with someone.
