Overview: The concept of Affordability Engineering is relatively new and it has been developed for assist in the decision-making. This paper is focused in Affordability Engineering Measurement to be applied in automotive and aerospace sectors. The paper has developed a conceptual model of different factors affecting affordability. An Affordability Index has been obtained considering quantitative and qualitative measurement. A framework for measuring Affordability Engineering through Affordability Index has been developed and it has been validated with the development of a pilot case study. The framework has been implemented in a commercial software tool. It is observed that the framework is capable of providing effective support to measure affordability engineering.
