Overview: "Multicast and mobility over satellite using IPv6" is a collaborative project, funded by CNES (French National Space Agency), led by 6WIND (private French leader and innovator of embedded IP networking software), Astrium (a world leader in the design and manufacture of satellites) and LSIIT (Strasbourg University IPv6 research team). In the context of "Anywhere, anytime Internet access" its objective is to identify applicative scenarios that could best benefit from multicast and mobility features over satellite. Starting from the potential user needs, it studies how to optimize the communication needs through system architecture comparisons and identifies standard evolutions to ease these improvements. Proposed innovative concepts will then be validated on a testbed.
